At the invitation of Pro Vert Montréal, the SDC Les Quartiers du Canal participated with over 25 residents in a spring cleanup of the green alleyways in Saint-Henri. The result: 42 kg of waste collected and several areas spruced up, including Sir-George-Étienne-Cartier Square, the banks of the Lachine Canal, and four green alleyways: Ruelle à la Loutre, Bonheur d’Occasion, and Paillasson I and II.
A special thank you to the CDC Solidarité Saint-Henri, whose support and emotion mapping workshop enriched the day by gathering participants’ stories about their neighbourhood experiences.
Beyond the cleanup, the SDC reminds everyone that Earth Day is a year-round celebration. These 42 kg of waste demonstrate the concrete impact of our consumption habits, and what an engaged community can achieve when it rolls up its sleeves.
